Topic: social bits & sitemap??

After installing a test run of 4.9 beta, having a play around and doing a bit of research I decided to migrate one of my mambo sites over to mia.

The conversion seems to have gone smooth enough but I notice there is some some components and modules missing. I have converted and updated to 4.8.1

I found on this forum where to locate Byte and MOStlyREST (whatever that is) but the ones i'm interested in are the social bits and sitemap.

A post over a year old says that they are in the process of being packaged, but I cant find them. These actually had a fair influence in my decision to convert so I would really like to locate and install them please.

can someone please point me in the right direction here?

Thanks
Al

Re: social bits & sitemap??

wiseowl,

These extensions are managed by Brilaps.  I have wrapped up the latest versions and made them available for download on our site:

  • Sitemap - http://wiki.brilaps.com/wikka.php?wakka=Sitemap

  • SocialBits - http://wiki.brilaps.com/wikka.php?wakka=SocialBits

For the Sitemap you'll need to generate the XML via the admin page and you'll probably want to create a menu item for the component on the frontend.

For SocialBits you can enable/disable sharing sites via the module parameters page.  Assign it a module position of your choosing so that it shows up in your template.

Thank you for that cauld,
could I ask why facebook (blahhh!) is not included? It is one of the most popular social networking sites.

Good point.  Facebook and Twitter should be there.  We built it one weekend long ago and just haven't really touched it since.  Should be simple enough to add if you are a coder by using the others as an example.  Otherwise, we'll try to get them added for you in the next release.

Re: social bits & sitemap??

OK I have no coding knowledge, but with trial and error i can sometimes hack successfully.
I have added twitter, facebook, myspace and windows live.
furl appears to have been swallowed up by diig and magnolia has crapped itself big time so i have removed them.
Have also centered the icons.
If you want the hacked version let me know.
